Why it became the world's rosé
Before Whispering Angel, rosé was a holiday drink — sweet, pink and not taken seriously. Château d’Esclans made a pale, bone-dry, properly built rosé in the Côtes de Provence and the rest of the world spent the next decade copying it.
The blend is led by Grenache and Cinsault, with Syrah and Rolle. That combination is where the delicacy comes from: red fruit without weight, citrus without sharpness, and the stony finish that Provence limestone puts into everything grown on it.
It is still the benchmark. Every other pale Provence rosé on the shelf is measured against this bottle.
